ALS as a Test of Faith: a Conversation with Nancy Butler

Nancy Butler was first touched by God while listening to bible stories at the Methodist bible camp she attended when she was nine-years-old. By the end of the week, she was ready to give her life to God, first through through daily prayer and bible readings, later by founding one of the first inclusive evangelical churches that welcomed everyone regardless of sexual orientation.  God became the center of her life - but she kept it private from others.

After a circuitous route that first took her through DC to work for a defense contractor, God became the center of Nancy's life. The Riverfront Family Church in Glastonbury was the pinnacle of a "charmed" life that included a loving husband, great kids, friends, financial security, and to that point, health.

Then she got ALS.

Nancy Butler died on Wednesday. Today, we rebroadcast Colin's April 2015 interview with Nancy.
