Yale to Open New Quantum Institute; Studies Explore Runners' Thoughts, Brain Cancer

Michael S. Helfenbein
Yale Quantum Institute researchers have an array of equipment at the disposal, including this dilution refrigerator for experiments on quantum circuits.

Quantum information science now has a home in New Haven, Connecticut. This hour, we preview the opening of the Yale Quantum Institute with its director, Robert Schoelkopf.

And later: Have you ever wondered what runners think about as they pound out mile after mile? A recent study out of Cal State Northridge took a look inside the minds of long-distance runners. We learn more about it with WNPR science reporter Patrick Skahill. We also hear about a new Yale study on brain cancer.

GUESTS:

  • Rob Schoelkopf - Director of the Yale Quantum Institute; Sterling Professor of Applied Physics and Physics at Yale University
  • Patrick Skahill - WNPR’s science and environment reporter and host of The Beaker
  • Dr. Ashley Samson - Associate professor at California State University, Northridge
  • Dr. Kimberly Lauren Johung - Assistant professor of therapeutic radiology at Yale Cancer Center
