Tribune Publishing has received a new buyout offer from a Maryland hotel executive and a Swiss billionaire, according to the Hartford Business Journal. Tribune is the Hartford Courant’s parent company. And the $680 million offer comes as the company considered a lower bid from hedge fund Alden Global Capital -- Tribune’s largest stakeholder. Alden may now have to match or increase its bid for Tribune, to stay in contention.
Congress has eliminated all funding for public media.
