What makes a building worth preserving? Why do we choose some structures, and ignore others?
Helen Higgins, Executive Director of the Connecticut Trust for Historic Preservation, has just supervised the establishment of a Connecticut Historic Barns Trail, even available as an app for iPhones. Those barns link us to a critical piece of our past here in the Land of Steady Habits. Yet, other structures, it could be argued, do the same. Should they be saved? What about historic diners? Or, historic gas stations?
