The Rio 2016 Olympics are set to start in less than three months’ time. But Brazil’s Zika outbreak is worse than we thought. And there’s ongoing political unrest. And Rio’s water supply comes with an extra helping of “trash and contamination.” What to do? Postpone the games? Move them? Both?

And: Donald Trump is almost certainly the Republican nominee for president. And we get it: journalism lost. Everybody got it wrong. Even the data journalists. But how defensive does someone like Nate Silver need to get here? 6,000-words defensive? Or do we all just need to accept that sometimes the utterly unpredictable thing is the thing that ends up happening?
