Not Necessarily The Nose: 'Hamilton' Is Here

Lin-Manuel Miranda's Hamilton: An American Musical is, simply, a phenomenon.

The Broadway production was nominated for a record 16 Tony Awards, and it won 11. The Original Broadway Cast Recording is certified five-times Platinum and won the Grammy for Best Musical Theater Album, and The Hamilton Mixtape debuted at number one on the Billboard 200.

As the Broadway production continues, there are concurrent productions running in Chicago and the West End of London. As of early next year, there will be three simultaneous national touring productions.

The original U.S. tour, dubbed the "Angelica tour," arrived in Hartford on Tuesday. It runs here at The Bushnell through December 30.

This hour: a look at the phenomenon that is Hamilton.

GUESTS:

  • Rich Hollant - Principal and design director at CO:LAB; a commissioner on cultural affairs for the city of Hartford
  • Steve Metcalf - Director of the University of Hartford’s Presidents’ College
  • Virginia Wolf - A local actress and an audiobook narrator and the founder of Herstory Theater
