Great Britain Says Goodbye

The British voted to leave the European Union yesterday. Let that sink in for a minute. This decision will likely cause geopolitical and economic turmoil and uncertainty for years to come as the world negotiates how to separate Britain from our global economy.

"Leave" voters hoping for an isolated and blissful existence free of immigrants and pesky bureaucrats will soon learn what they've lost from the strength of European unity. We live in a global world. There is no turning back.

America should watch carefully in anticipation of our upcoming presidential election. The same nativism that caused Britain to exit the European Union is festering in the message of Donald Trump. Not long ago, we were certain that Trump couldn't win the Republican nomination, let alone the presidency. Today, nothing seems certain. The only thing we can count on is uncertainty.

To quote Colin:

No sooner did Nate Silver come to symbolize the notion that Everything is Quantifiable than it turned out that Everything is Chaos. Trump. Brexit, the NBA playoffs, the filibuster, the sit-in. The Second Law of Thermodynamics is having a great year. What's the next thing? The Zikalympics get moved, canceled?

Next, we're certain, but not quite, that we'll  convince anti-Game of Throners to start watching. I'm certain, but not quite, they can't change my mind.
