Housing issues affect everyone in Connecticut, from those who are searching for a safe place to live, to those who may find it increasingly difficult to afford a place they already call home.WNPR is covering Connecticut's housing and homelessness issues in a series that examines how residents are handling the challenges they face. In Connecticut, Rent Affordability an Issue of Supply and Demand

According to an annual report from the National Low Income Housing Coalition, Connecticut is home to the eighth-priciest rental market in the nation.

The average amount needed to afford a two-bedroom apartment is now a staggering $24.29 per hour. For a person making minimum wage, that means working 106 hours each week. 

But just how did our rental market get so expensive?

This hour, we talk to a panel of housing experts to learn how high rent prices are impacting residents. We also find out what’s being done to create more affordable rental housing in Connecticut.
