Meet Your Gubernatorial Candidates! (the ones you don't know)

Each election year, we invite candidates running for public office who are on the 'fringe' of voter consciousness to join our show. We like to talk to these candidates. They're passionate, they want to talk about the issues important to them, and they don't necessarily follow a party platform.

As both major parties gear up for their May conventions, some candidates are opting to bypass the event and the delegates that go with it to pursue other routes to the top job.

Whether they attend or not, some feel the two-party system makes it too hard for unknowns and newcomers to get on the ballot. Does the process discourage a wider array of ideas and eliminate the type of candidates voters want?

Today, we talk to three of the almost thirty candidates running to replace Governor Malloy that you may not know very well.

GUESTS:

  • Mark Stewart Greenstein - Businessman; former attorney; gubernatorial candidate running as a "liberty-minded" Democrat
  • Marisa Manley - Attorney; founder and president of Commercial Tenant Real Estate Representation Limited; gubernatorial candidate running as an Independent
  • Lee Whitnum - Software engineer; gubernatorial candidate running as a Democrat
