This hour we’re checking back in on a few stories we’ve been following.
First, we’ll look at Puerto Rican out-migration caused by the financial crisis. According to Pew, there are now more Puerto Ricans in Florida than Puerto Rico. We’ll talk to the director of Pew’s Hispanic Research Center to hear what this means for the island, and for cities like Hartford.
And in Connecticut, official graduation rates have risen from 79% five years ago to 87%. Our guest says that there’s more to the story than official numbers might suggest.
Last but certainly not least, the Department of Social Services has something to celebrate. Their call center wait times went from 87 minutes last July, to now 17 minutes. We’ll find out what the organization has been doing to better serve state residents.
