Women Of Connecticut Surf The Blue Wave

Women won big in these 2018 Connecticut midterm elections. This follows a national trend sparked in response to the 2016 election of Donald Trump. More women ran and more women won, many in seats not held by a Democrat in decades, let alone by a woman.

Today, an hour with several of Connecticut's new female legislators.

GUESTS:

  • Mary Abrams - State Senate-elect to 13th Senate District of Cheshire, Meriden, Middlefield, and Middletown. She beat Republican incumbent Len Suzio from Meriden
  • Pat Wilson Pheanious - State House-elect to the 53rd District covering Tolland, Ashford, Willington. She beat Republican incumbent Sam Belsito
  • Christine Palm - State Representative-elect to the 36th House District of Chester, Essex, Deep River, and Haddam. She beat Republican Robert Siegrist
  • Jill Barry - State Representative-elect to the 31st House District of Glastonbury. She beat Republican challenger Lillian Tanski
  • Julie Kushner - State Senate-elect to the 24th Senate District, which includes Bethel, Danbury, New Fairfield, and Sherman. She beat five-term Republican State Sen. Michael McLachlan
  • Alex Bergstein - State Senate-elect to the 36th Senate District, which covers all of Greenwich as well as portions of Stamford and New Canaan. She beat incumbent Republican State Sen. L. Scott Frantz, becoming the first Democrat to win the seat since H. Allen Barton in 1930
