Voicemail Project: Do You Ever Feel Like Nobody Gets You?

1Day Review

1Day Review

Would you rather be with your dog than most of the people you know because nobody really gets you anyway? Do you feel alone even when you're surrounded by people at work or at home?

Do you go through the motions of posting on social media, talking with people at work, and going where you're invited - or avoiding those invitations - because you can't find much meaning in any of it?

There's a difference between being alone and feeling alone. A national survey conducted by Cigna this year finds that about half of the 20,000 people who participated in the survey feel that few people get them or that most of their relationships lack meaning - even when they have friends and family and work to support them.

A lot of people are not alone in feeling alone.

We want to hear your stories. When do you feel most or least alone? What makes you feel most or least alone? Who do you turn to when you need a friend? You can leave your name or not.

Give us a call at our voicemail number - 860-580-9677.  No one will pick up - it's you and the phone.  If you make a mistake, just keep talking. We can edit out the mistakes. Or, hang up and call back.

Questions? Write me at bkaplan@ctpublic.org or call me at 860-978-1795.

Betsy started as an intern at WNPR in 2011 after earning a Master's Degree in American and Museum Studies from Trinity College. She served as the Senior Producer for 'The Colin McEnroe Show' for several years before stepping down in 2021 and returning to her previous career as a registered nurse. She still produces shows with Colin and the team when her schedule allows.
