Los Premios a la Excelencia Periodística del Overseas Press Club reconocen los trabajos periodísticos más destacados en prensa escrita, multimedia, radio y televisión. La periodista Itzel Rivera recibió el Premio Especial a la Excelencia en Periodismo de Arte, Cultura y Entretenimiento por su trabajo en la colaboración periodística sobre Puerto Rico junto a CT Public.

The Overseas Press Club Excellence Awards celebrate the best journalistic work in print, multimedia, radio, and television. Reporter Itzel Rivera received the Special Award for Excellence in Arts, Culture, and Entertainment Journalism for her work with CT Public's Puerto Rican reporting collaboration.

The “¡Batey Boricua!” gallery showcases works by 17 local Puerto Rican artists at The Wadsworth in Hartford.

La galería reunirá las obras de 17 figuras de la escena artística vinculados a Connecticut, donde residen más de 300,000 Boricuas.

Legisladores de Connecticut visitaran la isla en octubre para reunirse con funcionarios y visitar comunidades de San Juan, Salinas y Comerío.

Connecticut’s first Puerto Rican parade in 1964 was held with the slogan “Register and Vote,” to encourage political participation in the growing Boricua population, due to economic opportunity. Parades quickly spread to Bridgeport in 1965, Waterbury in 1966, and New Haven in 1968.

El primer desfile puertorriqueño de Connecticut, celebrado en 1964, tuvo como lema «Regístrate y vota» con el fin de fomentar la participación política de la creciente población boricua, atraída por las oportunidades económicas. Los desfiles se extendieron rápidamente a Bridgeport en 1965, Waterbury en 1966 y New Haven en 1968.

La ceremonia reconoce los mejores trabajos en prensa escrita, multimedios, radial y de televisión.

La determinación permitirá a agricultores y productores agrícolas tener acceso a asistencia federal.
